Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, completely free with no limits. No signup, no subscription, and no hidden fees. You can resize as many images as you need, whenever you need.
No. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy and security. We cannot see or access your images.
We support JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and BMP formats. You can also convert between these formats while resizing. For example, upload a PNG and download it as a JPG with compression.
Yes! You can select and resize multiple images in one batch. All images will be processed with the same settings and downloaded as a ZIP file for your convenience.
Resizing down (making images smaller) maintains good quality. You can control output quality with our quality slider (1-100%). We use high-quality algorithms to preserve image details. Set quality to 90% for the best balance between file size and visual quality.
We offer three modes: Fit (maintains aspect ratio and adds padding if needed), Cover (fills the entire dimensions and may crop to fit), and Exact (stretches the image to exact dimensions, may distort).
Yes. Use the lock icon between width and height inputs to maintain aspect ratio. When locked, changing the width will automatically adjust the height proportionally, and vice versa.
DPI (Dots Per Inch) determines print quality. Use 72 DPI for web/screen display, 150 DPI for draft prints, 300 DPI for high-quality prints, and 600 DPI for professional printing. DPI doesn't affect file size, only print dimensions.

Understanding Image Resizing

What is Image Resizing?

Image resizing is the process of changing the dimensions (width and height) of a digital image. When you resize an image, you're changing the number of pixels that make up that image. Modern digital cameras and smartphones capture images with millions of pixels (megapixels), but for many uses like web display, social media, or email, you don't need that many pixels.

Why Resize Images?

  • Reduce File Size: Smaller dimensions mean fewer pixels and smaller files, making uploads and downloads faster.
  • Optimize for Web: Most screens can't display the full resolution of modern camera photos. Resizing improves page load times.
  • Social Media Requirements: Each platform has optimal image sizes. Resizing ensures your photos look perfect everywhere.
  • Email Attachments: Email providers limit attachment sizes. Resized images fit within these limits while maintaining quality.
  • Storage Management: Smaller images take up less storage space on your devices and cloud services.

How Does Resizing Affect Quality?

Downsizing (making smaller): When you reduce image dimensions, you're removing pixels. Modern algorithms intelligently decide which pixels to keep and which to discard, maintaining visual quality. Downsizing typically maintains excellent quality.

Upsizing (making larger): When you increase dimensions, new pixels must be created through interpolation. This can reduce sharpness and introduce artifacts. It's best to avoid significant upsizing.

Choosing the Right Resize Mode

Fit Mode (Recommended)

Maintains the original aspect ratio. The image fits within your specified dimensions, with padding added if needed. Best for when you want to preserve the entire image without cropping or distortion.

Cover Mode

Fills the entire dimensions you specify, cropping if necessary. Maintains aspect ratio but may cut off parts of the image. Perfect for thumbnails and profile pictures.

↔️ Exact Mode

Stretches the image to exactly match your specified dimensions. May distort the image if the aspect ratio changes. Use when exact dimensions are critical.

Optimal Sizes for Common Uses

Social Media

  • • Instagram Post: 1080×1080px (square)
  • • Facebook Post: 1200×630px
  • • Twitter Post: 1200×675px
  • • LinkedIn Post: 1200×627px

Web & Email

  • • Website Hero: 1920×1080px
  • • Blog Post: 1200×800px
  • • Email Header: 600×200px
  • • Thumbnail: 300×300px

Quality vs. File Size

The quality slider controls compression, which affects both visual quality and file size. For JPEG images, we recommend 85-90% quality for the best balance. At 90%, images look excellent while being 50-70% smaller than 100% quality. Below 70% quality, you may notice visible artifacts and loss of detail.
